Keyless Entry

Hello all, I have just purchased my auris t180 and I'm sure it says in the manual that it's supposed to lock itself when you leave the car but I've left mine for 20 mins with the key inside the house 20m away and it's still open. Is it supposed to lock itself or do I still need to do it manually?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Andrew,

Welcome to the forum.

If it's like my Auris, if you unlock it, and don't open a door, it will re-lock the car.

As far as I know it will not lock the car if you leave it unattended, no matter for how long.

This is why I don't think its 100% keyless if you have to still get the key out to lock and unlock the car.

As above but to lock the car either use the key or press the button on the door handle - which ever method you use it's once to lock twice to deadlock.

Cheers! That button on the door handle to lock is genius! Keys can stay in my pocket now :-)

Don't know if I should start a new thread for this but was looking to put a double din multimedia system in as I would like bluetooth and a few extra features. I've seen the pioneer appradio 3 looks decent but you can't get the version with the cd/dvd player in the UK for some reason!

As far as I'm aware Toyota don't describe the system as keyless.

For example the following is a quote from the first generation Auris brochure (circa 2009):

"Begin the journey with Smart Entry. All you need to do is to carry the Smart Entry key in your pocket. It's fitted with a transmitter that sends out a signal that allows you to unlock the car by simply touching the handle. Once behind the steering wheel Smart Start allows you to just depress the clutch and press the engine switch button, and the engine will start automatically."

Nothing about the system being keyless.

I wasn't aware of that, thanks

You have to be within 1 metre (approx) of the car for the "keyless" system to operate.
