Oil Consumption

I own a Avensis 1.8 cvt 2010. I have completed about 6000 miles since the car was serviced by Mr T.

I checked the oil this morning and find the level has dropped to about half way between the two marks on the dip stick I think it will take about a Ltr to bring it up to the upper (full) mark. the car has now done about 55000 miles. it is not driven hard but is used for mainly local work. Should I be concerned, My last Avensis a 2004 1.8 manual never used any oil at all. Any coments would be welcomb. Thanks

Don't think that would be considered excessive consumption. You don't say whether or not the current car has been using oil before the service.

Only purchased the car a year ago, The Toyota dealer I purchased it from did not service it at the time as they said it was not due .I had it serviced by my local Toyota dealer about 4 months after purchase. I love the car suits me fine but was a bit concerned when I found the oil had gone down after 6000 miles. I have owned Toyota,s for the past 20 years and never had a problem

How often do you check the oil, could the service you had skimped on the oil change or fail to fill it correctly.

Note the mileage then check it monthly to work out your consumption

I think its just over 1l between the marks so you are well within the amount for it to use. I would top up then monitor it over the next few thousand miles

Thanks for advice. I visited Mr T today to purchase oil to top up with. Told them what I had found , They said most cars use a little oil and did not think this was anything to worry about. When I toped it up found 1/2 Ltr was enough to bring it back to the full mark. therefor it had only used 1/2 Ltr in 6000 miles so I don't know what I was worried about.. It,s put my mind at rest.
