Leak In Footwell Behind Passenger Seat

Hi there,

I have a Toyta Yaris GS VVT-I, 1.0 lt, petrol, 2 dr.

In the winter months, the floor behind the passenger seat becomes very wet. There is no puddle and no visible leaks.

The boot lid does not shut properly due to a shunt prior to when I bought it last year, (my first car and didn't really know what I was doing), at the time of purchase I wasn't aware of this and wasn't informed by the seller. naughty, naughty.

So the boot lid lets water in, at first I thought that the water got in to the boot and slowly found its away underneath the rear seat and down in to the foot well however the carpet is only wet on the floor and there are no wet patches on the carpet area up to the rear seat. There are no wet patches underneath the rear seats either.

I am lost here.

any help welcome

Cheers

Matt

Leaks like this are often difficult to trace. If there is water under the passenger seat, lift the carpet, look at the heater box near the floor passenger side, you should see a rubber drain tube from the heater and passing out of the car through the floor. Check that it has not become dislodged or split.

Regards Geoff Peace.
