Removal Of Instument Clocks 2003

hi.can anybody help me, my car has just failed mot due to main beam tell tele not working on instument panel,so not showing up blue when put on.trying to unplug the clips on back of clocks but to hard to push in and pull out! any body got any tips on getting plugs out and changing bulbs as dont look like normal bulbs! many thanks wayne

thanks for reply,rang toyota main dealer today for bulb for blue main beam tell tele light,thay said it looks like there is no bulb you can replace its the whole cluster which is 900.00 pounds? is this right as seems a joke for a small blue light!!! any one had this trouble before?

They may be right - but someone with direct knowledge would be more helpful. Certainly earlier Ravs had a twist in bulb holder but it's possible that Toyota have gone the same way as some other manufacturers where an LED is soldered onto the circuit board. It's not to difficult to get a new LED soldered in and certainly cheaper than a new cluster! However if it does turn out to be an LED - these rarely fail so it's worth directly testing the LED, board connector and checking for dry joints before unsoldering. Maplins will have a suitable LED

Meant to say that if you didn't want to take things apart and you need to get the car through the MOT pronto - you could always mount a separate blue LED - either permanently or temporarily. Essentially you'd just need to to connect to the main beam feed.
