Alternator (Oval Plug Type) - Testing

Hi guys, I've just been given a scrap alternator (seized drive bearing) for parts. Question....how do I test the rectifier pack ? Is it the same rectifier pack/testing procedure as for the earlier round plug type ? (if so, its knackered !) Question....is it possible to test the regulator when its out ? Cheers
