Whirling Noise

Hi i have recently brought a yaris hybrid, when i open the drivers door i hear a whirling noise, is this the hybrid system switching on, is it normal

Will know more when I get my car, but I do know that essentially the electric motors are turning in all situations - this could be source of the whine.

This sounds more like the fuel pump priming for when engine is started, maybe a new feature for yaris but quite a few cars make a short whining noise for a couple of seconds when unlocked or drivers door opened. Hope it helps

thanks for your help. sounds like i have nothing to worry about, i would be interested in knowing other hybrid owners mpg mine is between 60 and 75 at this time
