Been enjoying Toc for years thought it was time to join up,

Traded in my Auris 2.0 D4dD T-spirit today, bought it new in May 2007, picking up 2009 Sr180 in the week, what have I done?

I'm sure you'll be aware by now of the potential issues with the 2.2 engine in particular, but hopefully you've got a good one which is in fine health. Keep an eye on the oil level & the state of the coolant expansion tank ........

Hi Uncle Buck,

I am aware of the potential issues, oil consumption, carbon clogging, leading to head gasket issues, also aware that Toyota have extended the warranty on the engine,

But after doing some proper research I am now aware that even my 7yr old Auris 2.0 D4D, could have had the same potential

problems, it never skipped a beat.

Was also informed by Toyota that cases are not very common at all and that if fully serviced, should be of no concern at all.

Now realise that what ever car I would have changed to I would find 'horror stories' about any of them, Audi Tdi's are prime examples but people flock to them,

On a final note found a specialist independent toyota garage, and they have only had a couple of cases of head gasket trouble

none of which were on a Auris, was also told SR180 is a cracking car capable of good mpg, if driven correctly, it is not after all a GTI,

I have plenty of faith in my car Andrew, I just thought it was only fair to make sure you knew of the highlighted issues others have had. That way, you & others can make better informed decisions on potential ownership :)

Realise you were only pointing out potential problems, think I was just trying to put my head in the sand a bit,

was close to cancelling my Sr180, but I shook the dealers hand so that's it,

The car is a 59 plate 31,450 miles fully serviced, pure white, from Westlands Stourbridge,

got a good deal trading in my Auris 2.0 D4D T-spirit 58,000miles fully serviced, had it from new,brilliant car for someone,

I have asked toyota about Sr180 awaiting reply, perhaps its all ready had engine done, either way have 1yrs warranty,

and car will be 5yrs old in september, so its still got another 2yrs of engine warranty after that,

Going to fill her up with BP or Shell good stuff, and put a bottle of Forte in!

Again did,nt mean to come over a know all just a bit nervous LOL
