Hi.I have a 2008 Aygo platinum with the MMT gearbox..The gearbox seams to change all ok in Auto and manual but does seam to slip quite a lot.Is there anything i can check or change or is it a replacement gearbox job.Was thinking about changing the oil but will that make no difference as they have a clutch.

Car has done 36000 miles with full toyota history,Bit gutted as only bought it today.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have had two mmt Aygo's the present one is virtually new they do give the impression sometimes that they have clutch slip but I have had my present one checked by Toyota and all is fine .

But if it isn't fine surely you can just take it back?

Does it change gears ok I'm manual mode ? As the slipping might be the electronic doing their thing in auto mode.

In manual mode on a cold morning or after overnight the change can seem a bit notchy until it warms up a little I tend to use manual for about 10 mins them use auto mode and also mine is nearly new with only a couple of thousand on the clock I think you might be worrying over nothing the Aygo MMT doesn't act or sound like a conventional auto.

I do hope so but going through a run of bad luck ATM..Forgot to mention as well,at one point when i got nearly home there was a beeping tone every time i accelerated but that seams to have stopped now.

was this followed by any warning lights? you normally get this if the plates over heat

I drive a Yaris MMT and it can behave a little strangely in auto mode compared to conventional automatics but there shouldn't be any beeping when you're accelerating. To be honest I drive it in manual mode most of the time, occaisonally slip it into E if I'm parking up and changing between R and E. I'm changing to an MMT Aygo next month, I test drove a new one before ordering and it seemed just the same as the Yaris MMT. Only thing my MMT does is that it beeps if I'm stopped and having it in gear for too long, it tells you to go into neutral.
