Strange Cvt Noise

I have an 2012 iq cvt and for the last few weeks its started making a odd noise its most noticeable above 40mph when cruising and it sounds like an electric generator whine which goes up and down depending on speed, the sort of sound you would expect an electric car to make! its not loud but it wasn't there before also with the car stationary as you move through the gear selector you can hear a buzz from underneath which is also there when accelarator pedal is pressed car has done 7000 miles i cant find any reference to a cvt going faulty on these forums they seem to be reliable...

Any thoughts from those with a cvt

I've had a Jazz CVT before with no noise of that nature. I presume its under warranty I'd get it checked.
