Oil Change - Thailand

A bit embarrassed to admit I have had the Hilux 2 months and not yet changed the oil and filter - excuses wanted to be sure of grade.

Bought filter and 7 litres of oil today for equivalent of £18.30 - well impressed. As I don't have my filter tool with me yet I employed a friend to change the oil - £3.40. The engine is so much quieter!! When I bought the pickup, the dealer said that they had had it about two months and started it every day. The oil level was well over filled and I thought to be contaminated with diesel. I think the change of oil really has done it the world of good. Used BP Visco 3000 10W30 (also sold as commonrail engine oil) - recommended over here, it is 36 degrees today and forecast is 40 by Sunday. Be in UK next month and will be taking an empty suitcase, my wife will be with me so we can bring back 46Kg of luggage - a lot of which will be my tools.

Bought BP oil as I know it is good gear, PTT oil (main Thai oil company) is about 30% cheaper.

The BP Visco range of oils is no longer sold in the UK. BP own Castrol, which is the range of oils they concentrate on in the UK.

An early test of Visco - http://www.anglia-models.co.uk/history-bp-trial.htm

I just bought a service kit from roughtrax online, came with every thing. thinking about it, I'm not even sure which oil I've put in ,! Think I'd better check.

Roughtrax site just says semi synthetic oil. Better look into it what with my new cylinder head. Hopefully it won't be complete rubbish.
