Yaris Timing Chain ...

Hi I have a yaris 2004 1.3 vvt-i 3 door was a lovely car for getting around town until one day i heard an awful noise coming from engine!!! turns out to be timing chain!!!! not good!! priced it with Toyota dealer was working out about £500 for parts!!! ) but the story of this chain was to do with a pipe in the sump that takes the oil threw the pipe!! well turns out who ever worked at it before had no clue what they where doing!!! the pipe was blocked with white gasket stuff & caused a starvation or a lack of oil getting to engine!! & caused timing chain to go!!! now the chain did not break on me So no i have to replace the engine & get a 2 hand one!! as the car is 2004 does a 2007 the same?? 2SZ Engine number im not going to take the chance of replacing the timing chain kit as the parts are way to expensive & because of the starvation of oil i don't think i could risk that chance there may well be further damage on through the engine..... i priced a 2 hand today £300 :bookworm:

Nope the 2SZ engine in a mk2 is not the same as the mk1 in fact there are 4 different versions, 2 for each model all dependant on build dates, also French and Japanese models are different again.

I have no idea nor any connection or know anything about them but i just Googled second hand engines for Toyota's and this was just one of the many sites that came up. Have a look at this site and maybe do a Google search yourself, it may help you find the engine you need. (I used ordinary Google and not Google Chrome for the search)

Just an update in regards to the timing chain problem Iv picked up a 2007 engine with little mileage for about £300 now the car is a 2004..... & it will fit ok... & hopefully be like a new car again just be care full of the lift pipe from the sump!! its what done the damage!!!!Toyota recommend changing this lift pipe when you replace timing kit!! if my pipe had not been blocked i would have got away with timing chain only! & not a hole engine..... Got car back & drives like new!! she is so Quite you would not here her running happy days
