Cost Of Having Shocks Replaced?

We got a quote from a garage of around £550 to replace all four shocks on our W-reg 2000 RAV 4. (My other half asked them to quote for slightly uprated shock absorbers)

Just wondered if that sounds a reasonable price? (To me it sounds extremely expensive)

How long does it take for a garage to replace all four?

Shocks are £80.00 fronts and £40ish rear. I did it myself but had a quote for replacement at my local garage of £230.00 to replace all for if I supplied the parts.

You can pick up Kyaba (KYB) shock absorbers for the 4.1 at around £200 a set. The bump stops on the fronts of the 4.1 tend to be shot and it may be prudent to change these at the same time. KYB and others do a "protection kit" - much cheaper than Toyota replacement bump stops. Just under 2 hrs to change a complete set. Uprated shocks are available for this vehicle but at a price!
