Locking Debates. Bluespark V Lindop Chip

I was very disappointed that the hot topic re the above was locked because one person said it was a childish debate.

I didnt see any personal nastiness in the debate, sure there were differences of opinion. It wasnt childish. Thats what you get in a discussion though isnt it...differences of opinion, backed up with evidence and technical discussion? What troubles me is the integrity of this site. If someone locks a debate (which is this case that was all it was) I get suspicious as to the reasons. . I think there was a very good discussion about the merits of spending £200 more for a chip that allegedly had 6bhp and 10nm of torque and the issues surrounding quality of parts.

What concerns me is that certain members of this forum appear to have a hold on the discussion. It is almost as if when the discussion goes against one members argument, someone locks it down. Ive been on Ford and Honda forums and have never seen this kind of locking down before.

I put it to the forum that it could be construed that certain suppliers on here maybe getting preferential treatment and that when as discussion isnt going their way the site locks the discussion.

When we have 2 chips for an Auris on the market, claiming to produce similar performance gains, for wildly different prices, it is an area that members of this forum should be allowed to discuss in a civilised way

Nothing to do with your observations at all, it went off topic and that is why it was locked, forum rules I'm afraid, you agreed to them when you signed up

The debate started off with your enthusiastic comments about how good the product was, nothing wrong with anecdotal evidence, but you were unable to back that up with any hard evidence, other than you perceived it was good. I went on to show what our kit does (in real terms with a dyno result) and it is up to prospective customers to decide if the price difference of £225 is worth it or not, it is not for you or me to decide that. One kit is TUV approved, a sign of quality, with test results to prove so, the other even describes their product as NOT having any approval in order to make it cheaper, well in my experience, cheap is cheap because it uses cheap materials with lack of testing. Maybe you are willing to take the risk, others are not prepared to take that risk and will pay a premium for a premium product

What a load of tosh, I have no influence on any of the Moderators on here (thank gawd) Bluespark do not advertise on here, perhaps you have some sort of connection with them? Perhaps you are selling their product yourself and bypassing the selling fees that would be due if in fact you were a trader? :g:

Here endeth my comments on the subject. Happy to answer any questions in a PM, but the subject has been done to death now on Bluespark v Lindop chip

Kingo

The reason the topic was locked was because the 'discussion' had nowhere to go, and had deteriorated into a 'mine is better than yours' exchange of posts with one side having evidence of the performance of their kit and the other side not - which was doing nobody any favours.

I have no connection with any supplier either on this forum or elsewhere, apart from, on occasion, being a customer, and I personally resent any implied bias towards one party or the other.

I'm locking this topic, because, again, this has nowhere to go, and will, if it isn't locked, just end up being repetition of the original tit for tat.

When both sides have evidence of the performance benefits of the two kits, that will be the time for constructive comment and discussion.
