THE 91 CELICA GT DOES NOT HAVE 180 HORSES. it HAS 115. THE GTS HAS 135. THE ALL-TRAC HAS AN EVEN 200.

A P-registration 2.0GT is a sixth generation Celica, I asume this is a UK spec car which was fitted with the 3S-GE engine, the power being 173bhp (Jap= 180ps).

JIM quotes US spec fifth generation Celica stats. :P

This could turn into an interesting disscusion as there are so many revisions and models of Celica's where each of the revisions and models available in different countries that have different power configurations that unless its specified which one is being talked about as in Carls comment everyone could be both right and wrong :D :D :D

Yet another 2.0 Gt option - 3SFE - 140PS (136 BHP, i think!).

As also stated by Carl in his response his figures are for the MANUAL. The above are probably the auto but seem more likely to be the ST 1.8.

On top of that has any1 driven the very VERY late spec st202 that had a 4th gen vvti 3sge that was also fitted to the rev 5 sw20. Apparently it pushes 200Bhp@7600 but thats all I know pah. If its anything like the zzt celica it prolly has a powerband of 500rpm and ill bet youll feel more torque on a bicycle. Bring back the turbo dammit toyota!

I Drive a Fourth Gen Celica GTS, great car. I dont know the hp but its somewhere around 145-150 i believe. Great handling car and lots of torque through second and third. Only problem that i have with the car is the flat spot through fourth. Overall a great car and i would buy another one in a second, also theyt are cheaper than alot of other celicas for the same power

Also it has a 3S-GE motor, very reliable and easy to work on, sept for the clips on the hoses, pain in the *****

hi,

I think 18's and a 40mm drop are about right arches may need rolling

Check this site it's great for all car stats -

http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/car_reviews/

These stats are for UK spec celica 94-99

-----------------BHP MPH 0-60 MPG

Toyota 1.8 ST 114 124 10 37.6

Toyota 2.0 GT 173 139 7.9 31.7

Toyota 2.0 GT-Four 239 153 6.1 27.2

Straight from the above site and if you live in the UK and love cars you should know who parkers are!

Also I think Jim is getting his ST's and his GT's mixed up. Imagine having a sports car with 115bhp. Just aswell have an xr2 fiesta and save your money LOL -the 91 gt which I happen to own with a 3s-ge engine is 155 bhp.

yes i do believe a 3s-ge is around 150-170 bhp but as they are imports it is very hard to get any technical data i drive a 1992 2.0GT cabriolet and it is definitely not 115bhp as when you turn on the sports mode it goes like SOS and as i used to have a1992 Honda CRX VTEC which was 150BHP and it definitly is a match for that in a straight line and that was a manual.

Yes i have, its also known as the SS-3. It was a standard SS-2 featuring a beams engine block and vvti.

It pushed out 197bhp exactly and the 0-60 is 7secs.

:hokus-pokus:

VERY hard to come by, i have only once seen one in the flesh and its one of the rarest celicas ever. But you would honestly never know it was any diffrent. It feels identical to a ss-2 (st202), the only diffrence being it revs up quicker like a normal gt with a blitz induction kit fitted.

WHO NEEDS VVTI ANYHOW! BRING BACK THE GT4 TOYOTA! AND THE SUPRA TT!

WHATS UP WITH YOU! LOST YOUR BALLS!

I recently purchased a 1999 ss3 and discovered that the car has 152lbs of tourque & 200 hp in its stock form . ( this is a japanese domestic model) This engine is more potent than the honda type r or sirt of the same year. It has a greater horse power than the first genration turbo celica , but only equals the horse power of the 2nd generation turbo celica(ie. 1990 models in the usa) . The toyota altezza carries a similar engine but has dual VVTI thus producing a greater hp with greater tourqe (210hp with 159lbs ). These are the best non turbo 3sge engines produced by toyota .

With the exception of a limited run of 3s-ge trd engines put into a couple of MR2's pushing 275bhp of course ....

But then that would be a very limited run and classed as rocking horse poo....

And yes that was 3s-ge not 3s-gte...

Yes, thats the beams vvt engine in the lexus/altezza. 210bhp, very nice. want one for my aw11. No chance tho :crybaby: Didnt realise they have an intake vvt only version in the celica/mr2 tho. The 6th gen celica's are !Removed! heavy. 173bhp, and a 122bhp mr2 can sit on its tail. :D

ive been trying to find out either an exact match for my bhp (from books, havent had her on rolling road yet) - but they all seem to differ by about 20 bhp or so.

the celica ive got is a 89 st162, 2.0 gt-i with a 3S~GE engine.

i dont suppose anyone knows what bhp it would be (i wonder sometimes if it shares the same engine as the 5th generation, but not the gt-4 version- of course lol).

any info would be great, but i think maybe the best way to know is to get her on a rolling road and see....cant afford it yet lol (been quoted £60 an hour, with maybe as long as 3 hours testing?)

cheers

If it's the same as my 5th gen then standard it will have 147bhp

Right lets get this sorted

93-99 UK Celica Gen 6 GT had 2ltr engine producing between 170-180bhp bepending on the air system. (There were at least 3 diffrent varients, some had resonators systems and some didnt)

93-99 UK GT4 is 239bhp exactly.

93-99 1.8 st,sr etc was 118bhp approx

Jap Cars

Jap GT 2ltr 3S-GE was between 170-200bhp (because of the vvti on the latter model)

Jap GT4 3S-GTE is clocked at 255-260bhp officially

To my knowledge i havent seen a 1.8 jap import so im unsure as to if they ever used the 1.8 in japan.

The Celica Gen 6 convertible was available with either the 3s-ge or the 3s-fe. So it had the same power as the coupe GT 2ltr yet the top speed was less because of the hood i have been told.

Im unsure of the 3s-fe spec, some say its a 2ltr yet others have told me this is the 1.8ltr engine. Either way max of 140bhp for this model.

Sorted.

150 bHp.

The GT4 version (st165) was 185bhp
