Toyota Rav 4 Auto 1996

Hi Folks,

Have not long bought an old 1996 toyota rav4 auto with good service history. All has been well with it and I have not used it much for the last 10 days, but today when I started the car I noticed that the Battery light, brake fluid level light and the auto/oil temp light were on and seem to stay on.

The car started fine with no Battery issues and also the brake fluid level is ok an the auto oil level seems ok too.

Seems odd for all of these lights to come on together? Can anyone shed any light on this if possible?

Other than the lights the seems to drive fine but I am scared to drive it more that a mile or so in case anything happens to it.

I`m hoping it will be a simple fix as finances are not at their best at moment!!

Erroneous lights such as this usually point to something like an alternator fault I'm afraid , get the alternator tested soon otherwise the car won't be starting in a short while.

Hi Naeem, and welcome to these pages and Rav ownership.

Just like to add that if you have a multimeter check across the Battery terminals for the voltage reading, it should read between 13 to 14 volt with the engine running.

If not take the car to a good Battery supplier and say could you check the Battery as you have only just bought the car and you were wondering if it was OK.

The meter they use will test the charging rate at the same time which will tell if the alternator is at fault

This service is usually FOC

Good luck with this matie
