the 2.0 D4D Auris can also suffer from excess oil consumption, head gasket failure etc. production dates "Auris with 1AD or 2AD (Prod. Date: Sep 2006 to Sep 2009)" albeit they don't seem to have the same failure rate as the 2.2s.

Toyota have an extended warranty program in place for the issue though for up to 112,000 miles or 7 years.

it's supposedly due to carbon build up so don't use cheap fuels, don't trickle around at 1200rpm, give it a good blast every so often etc. etc.

thanks Heidfirst well mate I use asda total and Shell fuel but mix them so not using same all time and well to be fair not often I sit at low revs unless stuck in traffic also use recommended oils when I find out what they are only problem other than this may be if fit chip box but waiting on results from here want use blue spark from eBay but waiting see if it will but lot extra stress on car mine only got 49k been driven by old couple so first give it a blast then find out if worth cleaning or changing egr valve if it has one not sure about diesel engines in Toyotas want use good products but have be safe with pennies for bit until get used to running costs
