What Does This Switch Do?!

On a Jan 2007 (56) 4.3.

Located on the panel beneath the sunroof switch and main "door open" lights. Assume it relates to alarm/immobiliser but if pressed it just makes the security light next to the clock flash more often with no other obvious function/change. No mention at all in the manual!

I'm also missing the line in jack from the centre console, are they easy to retro fit or is there an alternative location where it may be installed?!

Thanks!

Presumably you have an alarm on the car. That switch will turn off the ultrasonic detectors on the inside of the car - intended for when you lock the car but leave, for example, a dog inside, and this will prevent the dog from setting the alarm off.

Thanks, i honestly don't know if it has an alarm....it has a security light next to the clock which flashes when the car is locked, however i can find no mention in the manual of anything other than an immobiliser which this light is apparently linked to. I guess the glass breakage detection thing toyota mention is an alarm? It is definately a toyota switch and panel so 100% sure there is nothing aftermarket.

Is there a way of locking the car and not arming an alarm? On an avensis you can press the lock button 3 times on the remote fob to lock the car without activating the alarm (hazard lights long flash on the third press to confirm). This doesn't work on the RAV so are there any hints and tricks?

I would imagine the glass breakage protection is provided by the ultrasonic detectors - hence having the switch inside to turn them off for when you leave a pet (or the better half?) in the locked car.
