3Dr / 5 Door Seat Help

Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me if I can fit 3dr model rear seats into my 2002 5 door Rav4. The seats are from a 2006 (same shape updated front bumper) but is a 3 door model. As far as I know the only difference is the boot is smaller but the 3dr is the same width etc as the 5dr.

I need a drivers seat as the previous owner was about 30 stone so the seat is completely out of shape, right bolster completely gone also. Fella had offered to sell me the full interior from the 2006 (3dr) for my 2002 (5dr) for £90 so thought I would ask for advice here first to see if they fit as the rears lift out etc.

We had 5-dr & 3-dr 4.2's in the past and as far as I can recall, the 3-dr did not have 3 sets of seat belts in the back whilst the 5-dr did. Now whether this indicates any difference in dimensions, I can't say but I would have thought that the easiest way to check would be to take a tape measure to both cars to see if there are any differences. In particular I would have thought that if the mounting points measure the same, then it only remains to check the overall seating area size, particularly the width.

Hi,

I hate to cause a potential upset here but the rear wheel arches in the 3 door model are further forward in relation to the seats than the 5 door model. I guess the edges of the seats ( squabs and backs ) and the mounting points are a completely different design on the three door. You might be able to make them "fit" but you could fall foul of your insurance company as it would almost certainly constitute a notifiable modification. Sorry!
