I believe you put key in turn the key quarter turn to the left then back to centre and quarter turn to right and start to unscrew cap I leave key in but it will pull out, when you want to lock it you turn cap to right without key in unto you here it click then its locked .Its does say in the owners manual. when me and dad tried it we just kept on turning the key to the left then took the key out and unscrewed the fuel cap. To lock it, turn the cap back on until it clicks.

I've discovered another quirk, the car thinks an 8 pack of cans is a passenger if I put them on the front seat next to me. The weight must set off the sensor that triggers the alarm. It wasn't doing it previously with just my handbag on it.

You'll probably find the seat sensor is susceptible to what sort of beer is in the cans - Adnams Ghost Ship or Black Sheep will trigger the sensor, whereas Pilsner Urquell or Budvar won't.

Ah if only it was alcohol, but its not, its pepsi max lol

Sussed, put the cans in the handbag

At least you figured out what it was - I put a laptop on the passenger seat of my Subaru and an alarm started after a couple of miles of driving so I pulled over and later 'phoned the dealer who luckily diagnosed the problem over the phone! I did feel stupid!

Regarding petrol cap locking.

When replacing cap, just screw in cap as normal then force it (when resistance is felt) until it clicks - it is then locked automatically with no need for the key.

Simples!

Was successful with petrol tank filling up last Thursday. I am now going to see whether it'll last longer than the Yaris.
