Any decent local motor factor will be able to supply a branded after-market bearing from your registration number. If you want to do it yourself you'll need acces to a press. It's probably easier to remove the entire hub assembly and take it to a local garage and pay them the £20 to swap the bearing for you.

The job will entail removing the the caliper and disc. The end nut of the drive-shaft is probably the most difficult part. The wheel hub needs to be locked in place - construct a brace to bolt onto the wheel studs works for me. It would also be wise to leave the abs sensor in place and disconnect the wiring from the engine bay and thread it through. The bit which goes through the hub is fragile and may fracture if you try to remove it.

This set-up hs helped me on a number of occasions. Ignore the bolts on the right. The bars bolt onto the hub placing the crossed end against the ground to counter the force to remove the driveshaft bolt.

Try sending Parts King a personal message giving details of your car and what part you want. Parts King can be found under Sponsors Corner (Lindop Toyota) on the Community page.

Be very careful to remove the ABS sensor or follow the wiring to disconnect the plug. Damage anything to do with the ABS will give you a headache.

Changing the bearing on a car so young should be easier. I had 2 bolts shear off due to age when I did mine. One was the brake bracket bolt, and the second was a bolt holding the ABS sensor. I fixed the first myself, and an old friend rescued the bracket. I also have my own press.

Gary's tool is ingenious. I use a pry bar.

Your car is far younger than mine, so everything should be straight forward.

PS I'm going into hospital tomorrow for a repair job on my lower back so hopefully I will return soon!

Just done an 80k cycle ride up to the hills of east Cheshire and had really windy conditions but I just needed to do it for me. ;)

if u have a friend and manual car there is no need to make a tool just get a friend to sit in the car put it in top and stand on the brake that will be fine just make sure the friend isn't a health and safty nut and refuses to do it cos the car is on stands.

coop

just a quick note obviously do this b4 u remove the calipers and don't ***** against the transmission.
