I'm about to buy a friend's Avensis, and enter the Toyota world for the first time.

Never been there, I had (and still have) italian cars.

Hopefully you'll be able to help me on this path :)

It's not always true what they say about Italian cars - I had an 80's Alfa which never broke down or failed to start !

I'm owning a 1981 Lancia (but have not time to take care of it ) and 2 Fiat's. One is pretty reliable, the other one is starting to severely getting old (1994 Tipo)

My father had a 33, except a few electrical issues, it was pretty reliable, especially engine wise.

Welcome to the world of Toyota ownership...I've had a beautiful relationship with an Avensis Tourer 2.2d4d for a few years all documented on here....fan car and very good on fuel....oh and I Married a beautiful girl from Besancon....so welcome brother.

never been in Besançon (not even in this area, I'm from southern France) while I have one colleague who told me it is a wonderful city :)

Besancon is lovely, right on the Swiss borders with beautiful vistas and terroir....and the wine is Jura and Arbois savagnan grape.....very quafible.
