as it says in the title "what do you think of them."

my reason for this post is that i have ordered for my partner kath a new aygo last wednesday

and where told that we would have a phone call on thursday/friday so we could select the reg number

and our dealers Johnsons of wallasey didnt ring on either day so this morning kath rang them at 8.15 and asked for a return call

and they still couldn't be courteous and do as they promised, i went in to see them after work with a view to cancel

the order but after talking to a manager there i am giving them 1 more chance and thursday is the deadline

no car no purchase.

even if i lose my deposit i dont care i will buy from someone else who wants to take care of their customers.

rant over

Well I got my pre-registered Aygo 2 weeks ago from main dealers and to be honest as I usually get VWs my experience of Toyota is not good. I had to make chasing phone calls about the car when I could actually pick it up etc. On the day I picked it up I had to sit around for an hour why they sorted out the paper work and when I went to drive it away I was told no sat nav in car as they do not keep any stock units in for cars. I was not shown anything about the cars controls or features and anything about what to do in case of a break down . It seemed that they sold the car and not really bothered any more , I have not received any follow up calls from them and the sat nav unit was dropped off at my house at 20.30 one night by someone . To be honest Toyota Agent in Canterbury sell a lot of other makes as well and a big concern so what should one expect, this will be my last car from them any way. I did purchase a Avensis years ago from them and the customer service was a lot better then.

I got my March 2014 Aygo just last Tuesday but I ordered end of January and wanted to keep the Yaris with its winter tyres for a month just in case of snow. Having said that I was impressed with my local dealer and I got the car exactly when I wanted it. I went on holiday 2nd week of March so I didn't need it then.
I like their service department and aftersales too.

This is RRG Huddersfield toyota.

Think this is more of a topic relating to main dealers in general - not just Toyota dealers.

For example we bought our i20 from Johnsons Hyundai in Sutton Coldfield (the same dealer group as mentioned in the first post) after a poor experience with Colliers Mazda, from whom we'd previously purchased three new Mazdas. We had arranged a test drive in the Mazda 2, and when we arrived, a few minutes before the appointment, we were told the salesperson was out with another customer who had turned up on spec. We waited in the showroom for 40 minutes, weren't asked by other staff whether we wanted any help, and went home without the test drive or even any brochures.

We went into Johnson the next day (Sunday) on spec, were given a test drive straight away, part exchange was discussed and agreed, and a deal done. The Johnsons salesperson was really good - he kept us up-to-date with the order, the fitting of the accessories we ordered, when the car was delivered to the dealership, etc. We picked the car up on the agreed day, and we had more than one follow up calls to ensure we were happy with the purchase. Whenever I have popped into the showroom for something (servicing appointments, etc), I've usually seen the salesperson and he is only too happy to keep in touch.

We bought our last three Toyotas from Inchcape Burton-on-Trent after two disappointing experiences with Toyota World in Birmingham. Inchcape Burton-on-Trent is a 40 mile round trip for us (we live in Birmingham), whereas Toyota World (now Vantage Toyota) is a round trip of 12 miles. In our experience the extra mileage is well worth it.

The second experience at Toyota World, involved a pre-booked test drive. When we arrived, it was obvious we weren't expected. The salesperson took us out for a test drive in a customer's new car (an Auris) that was due to be handed over a couple of days later. We were promised phone calls later that week - which didn't materialise until six weeks later (by which time we'd ordered our new car from Inchcape and were due to collect our new car that week).

The sales experiences at Inchcape couldn't have been more different to Toyota World. With our 2006 Corolla, our 2009 Auris and our 2012 Auris, we were kept up-to-date with the orders, the fitting of accessories, etc. Each of the three cars were ready when we had agreed, and the controls and paperwork for each were fully explained at handover before we left the dealership. We also had follow up calls after each purchase and questionnaires from Toyota.

Servicing for the Hyundai and the Toyotas has been carried out by the supplying dealer - Johnsons and Inchcape.

I wouldn't have any issue purchasing again from either Johnsons or Inchcape.

i was having a bad day the day i ordered the aygo as 1hr before i had been booked at a nissan dealer (not johnson) for a test drive of a 6mth old micra and when we turned up the micra wasn't available to test as the service dept had loaned it out.its annoying as kath and i have a 5 month old baby so theres a lot to get ready to do anything.

johnsons also own lexus liverpool and last november i bought a ct200h and they where no better neither was the car a rattley piece of junk ,i have now spent 4 months finding the rattles and it is now a nice place to be,i had taken it back to them about the noises they had it 24hrs and on collection of the car they told me no noises could be heard ,now i left the dealer and went down the same oneway road and the car rattled its head off ,just horrible people to deal with never again in a million years will i make a purchase from them.

Think this topic just illustrates how different dealer groups can be between localities.

I have to say that my dealer was superb, never had a moments trouble.

Service was great, staff brilliant and even the parts department was top notch.

Free coffee and Wi-Fi, to be honest I could live there especially as the three receptionists are more than pleasing to the eye...

... and how are Roberto, Basil and Rupert on service reception?

Dealers vary, you cannot tar with the same brush and it sometimes down to the individuals expectations.

There are good and bad ones whatever makes of car, my local Toyota dealer in Rayleigh, Essex are very good!

I can`t fault my main dealer Lancaster (Minories) in Sunderland, always excellent courteous service

I deliberately avoided oil-rich Aberdeen where cars sell themselves, which is just as well given the levels of service regularly experienced by my pals who drive high-end cars. I went to Struans of Dundee who were easy to deal with and who did everything they said they would with no fuss. My dealings with the receptionist, sales guys and general manager were first class.

Watch you don't end up on the wrong side of the law. Defamation of companies can land you in real trouble.

I think the truth should be spoken for all of our sakes. If the dealer's good, then why not say so - mine's is in Elgin & they are very good on the whole. I would definitely recommend them to others.

On the flip side, if you've had genuinely poor service then we should have the freedom of speech to say so. There's a world of difference between speaking the truth & slagging a company off with lies.

Should have come over the water and bought the Aygo from us ;)

Not just me that remembers it then? Maybe it was because I was top of the pops? :g:
