I truly think the 1.8 Petrol coupled with the CVT Auto box is brilliant....doing an indicated 80 at less that 2500 Revs...marvellous....

But the car having only done just over 16K miles the drivers seat looks somewhat "worse for ware" !!!....It even has water marks from were the rain has got on it...it so ruins the whole car for me....

Any idea's anyone ??

With the last model Corolla, Toyota had a problem on some versions where the fire retarding solution used on the seat coverings made them prone to water staining, and some were replaced under warranty. Additionally if the seat base appears to be showing signs of wear (eg the seat covering going baggy), I'd go back to the dealer on both, show them what the issues are, and ask whether it is normal for an Avensis of your mileage.

Had something similar with a Nissan a few years ago, and the dealer replaced the seat base without quibble.

Firstly how has "the rain got in"? Do you have a leaking door seal? If so then this needs to be sorted under warranty. As far as the wear and tear is concerned then that can obviously be down to how you use the car but even if you jump in and out every couple of miles I wouldn't expect it to deteriorate as much as you suggest. I am now In the mid 20k's and my drivers seat still looks new so I would definitely be speaking to Toyota about that.

With the Corolla, as the side door openings don't have gutters, rain could dribble onto a seat when a door was opened. I would imagine the same is possible with the Avensis, etc, especially if there is any wind blowing towards the door opening.

Yes it is the same with the Avensis but I have never had enough ingress to get the seat wet enough to cause staining, it's usually just a few drops which are easily brushed off with the hand.

I think it may be when one is exiting the car that water drips can go unnoticed and leave water marks on the fabric

The rain seal is fine....its just with all the rain we have had lately ..... normal, you open your door an you always get a drip or two...so it has gotten on the seat! (As Frostyballs and Whitewagon have commented!)

I will go to the dealer over the weekend...I guess you ask for the Service Manager...see what he says!

Great result Seth. Also shows that there are some good Toyota dealers around despite some customers having poor service.

Thats why i love to buy Toyota great cars and also get great service, funny you say about your seat i had to get my sterring wheel replaced because it started to wear badly in places as if there was 170k on on it instead of the 18k that was on it.

I was expecting a debate and had my argument ready...(not fit for purpose etc...) but no...

As I say I love everything about this car...I like to think it will be a "Keeper" (that will please my wife!..she says I change my cars too much!...(and I do..Lost count!))
