Celica Problem

hi all im noel from dublin just bought a used celica 1,8 vvti when i press the accelerator it kinda dies for 2 seconds


then goes but its happening whenim going up the gears aswell its like a FLATSPOT a any help would be great

Is it standard?

Does it happen at a certain rev range each time?

no just when im pulling off it flats out for about 2 seconds and picks up and also as i go through the gears aswell if i ride the clutch and rev it dont happen buti dont want to burn out the clutch its like a flat spot feeling otherwise it drivs fine when i get going

any help would be great before i go to toyota

Do the free stuff first.

Check vacuum hose the airbox intake butterfly

Check air filter

Clean MAF sensor

Check & clean spark plugs (if needed)

Check throttle cable slackness

I had this exact problem. A full service plus new plugs and a panel K&N filter improved it slightly. But cleaning the MAF sensor made a significant improvement.

yep it was the map sensor all is good under the hood now
