Transfer Dab Module Between Cars ?

I have a 3rd Gen '09 Prius T-4 spec which I will shortly be swapping for a '10 T-Spirt.

My T4 has the DAB module fitted.

Does anyone know if this module can be removed and fitted to the T-Spirit which has the HDD audio system but no DAB ?

Hi there, I've never had to transfer a module like this, but as they are going for £430 fitted, I can understand why you want to take it with you!

The car I just bought had one fitted before delivery, and the front of the manual seems to show a much older Toyota stereo, so I think there is a good chance it is compatible with most if not all current Toyota stereos. Bear in mind that part of the antenna is an adhesive strip on the windscreen, so budget for finding and getting a replacement bit, or an entire antenna if it is built-in somewhere else on the old car.

I asked a question about this when getting my Yaris: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/155981-hello-and-dab-question/ It has a link to a fitting manual for the Yaris, as well as suggestions as to who on here might be able to help.

Hope this helps,

David

The DAB kit is the same for both the standard head unit and HDD nav so yes the kit can be transferred, the only issue being the Antenna stuck to the windscreen this will most likely not peel intact and if it does not re stick to the new screen, the adhesive antenna is available as a spare part though.

Thanks for the replies, I've had a quote to move it at £200 which seems on the high side. Interesting to see that other DAB modules are out there too which claim to work with the steering wheel controls of a Toyota, some research required I think.

Given the radio on my GEN 2 is so poor, how easy is it to get a DAB black box attached to improve it?

Any ideas?
