Help Needed - Wire Colours For Aircon Compressor Connector

Not strictly-speaking a question for Avensis owners, since my car is a Picnic, but I am told that the two models are related, so I hope one of you can help with a wiring question, please?

I acquired a second hand Toyota Picnic last year and a few weeks later realised that the air conditioning wasn't working. Looking under the bonnet I discovered that the cable loom that goes to the aircon compressor had at some time in the past been yanked out of the connector. leaving the connector and the cable's tails still inserted in the connector attached to the compressor but with the cable dangling. I managed to pull the 3 pins out of the connector and reattach them to the loose wires. But the problem is that I don't know which wire goes to which socket in the connector. I don't want to try the 6 combinations by trial and error in case I blow too many relays/fuses.

It is proving impossible to find a wiring diagram or manual for the Picnic, and my Toyota mechanic is having the same problem.

If I coud look under the bonnet of a Picnic with aircon I would find the answer very quickly. However, finding a tame Picnic/Avensis owner in Salisbury is proving impossible, so I'm hoping someone out there in the Toyota Owners Club might be willing to check their Avensis's aircon wiring and let me know which of the 3 wires goes where. Please can you help?

Sorry it's a bit late but I've just checked my car.

The plug is 4 way. Looking at the back of the connector it goes:

[empty] Black

White/Blue Yellow

Do you know what the function of each wire is? I haven't been able to find a wiring diagram.

I am away from home at the moment but looking forward to getting my hands on the connector now I have your information.

No, I don't have a clue about the functions of each wire - like you I haven't been able to get a wiring diagram, in spite of some initially promising Google hits.

Just to confirm, I connected the wires in the order you advised, and success! Cool air, just in time for the heatwave.

PS. We wondered if you drive the green Picnic we occasionally see in Salisbury? Picnics are a very rare sight, and I gather that there are fewer than half the number ever made still on the road.
