Avensis 2001 Acceleration Problem

It's more annoying than serious, but at most stages if one gives it too much pedal there is a distinct hesitation. Spark plugs changed, still the same. Feels like too much fuel getting through and flooding.

On the other hand could there be a fuel starvation problem? Any thoughts please? Apart from that, a great car all round.

You could try changing the fuel filter if the plugs look okay.

A Faulty Air flow sensor can give these symptoms, as you open the throttle the extra air coming into the engine leans the mixture if the air flow sensor does not report the correct air mass and temp the car will hesitate / lose power as you open the throttle.

Try cleaning the hot wire on the sensor with some MAF/Carb cleaner and see if this improves the hesitation
