Can The T3-S Play Mp3S?

Hi,

I've searched the forums and google for an hour but can't find the answer to the following questions. Hoping someone here could help me out?

- Can the t3-s models play mp3s?

- Do they have an aux port to plug in iPhones to play music from?

- Does the t3-s have the same finish on its centre console as the t3-x and t4?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

The stereo will probably play mp3's if they are burned onto a CD-R or similar.

AFAIK the facelift (post 2006) model played mp3's, but I've had two pre-facelift models (T2 and T3s) and neither of them played mp3's. I think the stereo looks the same but must have different internals. Neither of mine had a aux input either.

Adapters are widely available which plug into the Cd changer port. My 58 plate (sat nav) required a GROM unit which I sourced from eBay. I posted a thread a while back.

I recall that the various manufacturers quoted the head unit serial number which will be on the front of your unit. Yatour and X-car link also manufacturer kit which may be compatible.

The ones I was wondering about were the:

1) 06 T3-S D4-D 2.0

2) 56 T3-S VVT-i 1.8

3) 07 T3-S VVT-i 1.8

And, sorry, I should've clarified. I meant can the standard CD player in the models above play MP3s?

Thanks

the pre facelift has cd player/tape player and a display screen on top.

facelift should play mp3's and wma's and has a cubby hole on top.

The T3X will do as that ones the same as my T-spirit, but only from a cd with mp3 format on it and it will take 6 cd's in the slot.

So 8 to 12 albums per cd depending on the bitrate/compression and x 6 cd's that's a lot of music ... more than enough for me anyway.

Pete.

avensisd4d786, those pictures are really useful, thank you.

I have also found on the Avensis wikipedia page the following statement, which confirms the above. Silly of me not to look their first. Thanks everyone.

The new facelifted Toyota Avensis became available in June 2006. Some changes from the old model are the inclusion of turn signals in the side mirrors, an MP3/WMA/ASL-ready audio system, new front bumper, and a new grille. Interior materials and cloth seats have also been changed for 2006

Looking at a few TR models now.

Found this image below of a 1.8 Petrol Hatcback - but can't see the CD slot anywhere. Is the CD changer in the boot??

See:

That's exactly the same as mine. There isn't a cd multi changer fitted as standard. The head unit has a socket in the rear for a changer - this is where the mp3 adaptor plugs in.

The cd slot is behind the screen - the screen tilts open for access.

The model number is B9010

The sat nav disc slot is also behind the tilt screen.

Thank you. I wonder if that unit would fit my 2004, is the sat nav any good?

Mine works fine. However there will be a gps sensor to consider. Also there have been recent reports on the forum about the tilt button failing. Repair costs for such faults are prohibitive.

Thanks everyone for your help. Thought you may be interested to know that I ended up buying a 2008 Avensis TR 1.8 Petrol model.

Good choice mate, I think the facelift looks a little more modern, and the 1.8 has a fair balance of power and economy. Also yours should be outwith the "oil burning engine" age, and being a TR it should have some nicer kit. BTW I owned my first T25 1.8vvti for around 2.5 years and put 25k on it (sold it with 80k on it). During my ownership I serviced it as per the schedule, and apart from that the maintenance bills were virtually nil. I had to put a tail light bulb in it once, and a set of Wiper Blades. Seriously it didn't even need a tyre or a set of brakes etc. I honestly reckon it's the best car I've ever owned (and I've owned a right few).

Happy motoring!
