Newbie Needing Advice

Hi there, ive had my Rav4 for just under a year now its great I love it! Its the perfect car for me as having 3 horses 2 dogs and a small child its very versatile! and good looking ! My question to you today concerns the check strap, it broke and few weeks ago and ive been going through breakers adverts on eBay to see if they would sell me theirs but theyre reluctant to as obviously they would rather the boot stay complete if sold, so my theory is i need to find a rav thats had a rear end shunt in order to salvage the strap out of it :) my car is a 2004 5 door, can i fit an earlier model strap on it?? im talking the older looking models , any help appreciated before i have to fork out for new :( many thanks xx

The check straps on different models are different but can be adapted. Personally I'd get the correct part from Toyota pronto - it's ever so easy for someone to swing the door open or not support it and cause quite a bit of damage - far more expensive than a new strap!

I bought mine recently , extended strap, from japarts.co.uk, ten minutes to fit under £60.00, my toyota dealer was about twenty pound more and the one I fitted was a genuine toyota one in original packaging

I've recently fitted the extended check strap so have the original for sale.

Same model as yours - genuine part, so guaranteed fit.
