Hi all. I'm replacing the Scv valves on my rav soon and have been pricing new valves, my local toyota dealer in Cardiff quotes £245 and I've seen them on eBay with PF jones (diesel parts specialists) for £186 .does anyone know if these parts are made by the same manufacturer, PF jones were unable to say. Ie are the Scv's from them the same as toyota genuine parts.thanks i

Also, if I have a reading of 1.7 ohms across the Scv terminals (ie in spec) does this mean the valve is ok

Hi there,

The scv`s that I purchased from PF Jones for my rav 4.2 d4d were made by Denso , I believe that this company supply the original parts to Toyota and that the fuel pump is also denso .

As for the resistance readings for the scv`s they may well be within tolerance but the valves also have a problem of sticking either in the open or closed position and you would not be able to confirm this with a resistance test, but only by removing the valve and bench testing it .

hope this helps

Hi Colin cheers for the info I'm now confident to buy from PF jones and save a few bob, my symptoms are the same as many others I've read on these forums and with fault code p0627 showing. Cars on 50000mls and I've just changed all oils and filters inc fuel filter but still have intermitant loss of power on accelerating and restricted to 2-3000 revs, I am cleaning egr valve on sat and if this doesn't resolve the problem I guess its time for new Scv's. I know its unrelated but just for the record I've owned the car from new the wife drives it mostly and I had a new dmf fitted by toyota @25000mls (it was out of warranty and I had to pay half the £1500 cost) and @ 40000mls I had a to have 5th gear replaced.. Great car but really disappointed at these two transmission failures at such low mileage and now the Scv's ,also the transmission is starting to vibrate at around 2000rpm which looks like the dmf on its way out again.
