Combustion Heater

I have just taken delivery of a new Avensis D-4D Hatchback T3X. Delighted with every aspect so far. I am a little puzzled on one thing though.

What is the heater button to the right of the steering column for? The manual is a little vague on this and describes it as a "Combustion" type heater to "keep the cab warm in cold conditions". Isn't that what the main heating controls are for?

Sorry to be a bit dim.

i have the same as you and was confused as what it was for. apparently when it is really cold it will heat the inside of the car up in 70 secs. but it wont work if the outside temp is more than 8 degrees. as such i havent yet got chance to try it.

dont go near the petrol station whilst it is on though or you will blow up

Thanks Matty

Hopefully I won't get a chance to try it for a few months!

Sounds like a good idea. Even modern cars can take quite a while to warm up the the cab using the traditional method.

Can anyone tell me how effective this is?
