Intermittent Starting Issue, 2.2 D4D

Hi folks, I have a real good one, problem is starting. It has an issue where when you turn the key the relay behind the dash clicks but nothing from the starter. New Battery yesterday (it needed one anyway) it will bump start fine engine runs well just this silly starter issue. when it works the starter works well. It's difficult to replicate the problem and when running all is well. I'm off out now with the multimeter to investigate.

Hi griff01,

If it's got a new Battery and it can be bump started I'd say the starter motor is sticking.

Possibly worth looking at reconditioned or new starter to fix the issue.

Yup it was the brushes, they gone, changing them tomorrow, local shop is re-soldering new ones in for £30 happy days. What a job to remove though!
