nearly time to change the clutch on the D4D i think
going to go the SMF route, any recommends anyone?

getting tired of the vibrating when its all cold, judders like hell unless i pull away on tickover. fine when its warm!!
it is the clutch/DMF isnt it ??

been looking at borg+beck, exedy etc cannot seem to find the Luk clutch/smf kit that was
around a while ago. that seems to have vanished,it was well priced too sad.gif

do i also need a new slave cylinder for the SMF? heard somewhere about a concentric one but it means squatt to me!

I changed to a single flywheel last year and it's great. I got it off eBay from techniclutch

http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/techniclutch?_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2754 about £170.00 plus fitting at my local garage. The friction plate has a longer swing so effectively does the same as a DMF.

Hi sorry for delay in getting back my internet is playing up. My first clutch failed at 70k DMF collapsed.

Second clutch at around 130k clutch slipping. decided to change to SMF due to cost of DMF and improvements in SMF. I took it to Hill Top Garage in Earl Shilton who did it cash in hand £350 I think. he commented on how good the clutch was made and really surprised at the price. They are a 4x4 specialist.

Car is on 73k at the moment. Getting a judder when its cold and ok when warmed up.

took out a green flag cover to get me home if it fails as its cheaper than tow truck!

its a toss up what gets done first 4x new tyres or the clutch? Looking at yoko g012 a/t tyres

as I do a lot of shooting and spend the winter nearly all off road.

tks for the info .

My pleasure. I do a lot of towing with mine so the clutch gets a lot of use.
