Climate Control-A/c Not Working: After Battery Change?

Hi

The Battery packed up on my 2007 2.2 D4D recently, so I had it replaced. Co-incidentally, I noticed afterwards that I wasn't getting any cold air with the air con switched on. I normally leave it on all the time, but perhaps being winter, I hadn't noticed it wasn't actually doing anything! It was re-gassed last summer, and pumping out cold air like a good 'un.

Anyway, I had a quick google and found a site suggesting 'some models' (not Toyotas, specifically) might need the ECU fiddling with after a Battery change, to bring the A/C back to life. Red herring?

Failing that, anything on Toyota air-con that an amateur could look at?

Many thanks

John

I'd check that it has any gas first. There are "fill points" on the system which look a bit like tyre valves and work in the same way ie unscrew the dust cover and push the centre pin with a match and you should hear the gas escape. If there's no hiss then the system is empty. But even if there is gas pressure, it might not be enough for it to work (as I discovered on a previously owned T25). At least it would be a start, knowing whether it holds pressure or not. Be careful tho, obviously don't put your eyes close to where you're letting the gas out etc.

I changed my Battery to a Bosch, and didn't have any issues with air con not working....

Thanks - shame about the Battery thing - could have been a cheap fix!

I had the system re-gassed last summer for the first time ever, and it still had a reasonable amount of coolant left in it after six years. I suppose some seal could have gone pop over winter though.

In it goes; sigh.
