Hi this is to anyone thinking of buying a toyota avensis 1.8 v-matic t3 .Bought what I thought was my lovely new toyota, spent £15000 on this model in October 2010 from ron brooks mansfield, Ive had all my services done except 1 through them and very pleased with the sales and service dept, The warranty is now expired, the car has done nearly 80000 miles and now it has an electrical fault .Took the car in for a diagnostic check which this in its self cost me £60 - the fault itself is called a C13AA on the EPB - no idea what this is they say its a electrical component that is faulty ( not wear and tear ) . the service team at ron brooks have tried to get toyota to help cover the cost of £1450 ouch as they know its a lot to ask - thanks for trying lads , But to no avail - thanks for your loyalty and support toyota from one of your loyal and very disappointed feeling angry and ripped off customer. Maybe next time I will consider getting a different make - cheers for nothing toyota.

Has this fault happened to anyone else and if so did toyota contribute towards fixing the problem?

If the code had been different other than a C13AA then Toyota would have covered the cost. The service team at Ron Brooks are still trying to get Toyota to pay a percentage - will post the outcome as soon as I hear.

Toyota - the same as most manufacturers - will usually only consider goodwill contributions where the vehicle has been kept within the dealer network for servicing. You say that one service wasn't done by Ron Brooks - was this service carried out within the Toyota dealer network?

An example of this is the timing chain issues that BMW have had with some Mini engines. Last year on BBC Watchdog, BMW stated they would provide goodwill contributions only where vehicles had a full BMW service history.

Don't know about that code but the electronic parking brake is probably the least liked "feature" of the T270 Avensis & actuator failure is not unknown.

VW has also had a torrid time with them.

You could have, however, opted to extend the warranty (indeed you still could but they won't cover that existing fault) when yours was expiring.
