Cd/radio-Again

My radio unit emitted smoke and died. I have replaced it with a "tested and working " second hand one but still no signs of life in the radio, cd or display from the radio.

The only fuse I can detect from haynes is the combined radio/c lighter 15A fuse which looks ok, and the c lighter socket seems to be powered.

Any ideas on this eg are there any in-line fuses I have not spotted or any inspiration as this is becoming annoying! Also any ways of checking out things that I may not be aware of?

Test both the power supply at connections. The radio needs two supplies, memory and power and the radio needs both to work. Also check all the fuses, not just the obvious radio linked fuse.

I assume that the 'tested and working radio' has been retested to make sure it is still working?

Going back to the testing of the cars power supplies and make sure the earthing is okay.

I wonder if there is cable damage that is not evident without testing? A wiring short could have damaged the first and now the second radio. Or the first radio has damaged the wiring so the second radio will not work.

Hopefully these checks will find your problem.
