Renault Sport Clio 255 V6

It's still a clio! might go quick but still has the build quality of a pre 1970's YUGO.

Bah, French Merde - just an opinion.

Also can't they think up something new. This is just an update of the old TURBO2, which was a REAL mid engine screamer that makes this look tame!

Sorry I don’t agree with you at all,

I drove one the other day for the first time, I understand the mk1 was really not much cop but this thing blew my mind away. So much has changed for the latest version the mk2 it has a 255BHP 3.0V6 power plant, which sings the best noise in the whole world.

I never thought anything of this car until I drove it but I have just hooked on it now, Jeremy Clarkson says in his Top 10 car garage this car would be parked in it and EVO magazine rated just behind the Lamborghini Gallardo and the 911 GT3 in there in a resent Super Car test.

Not much cop!!?!!, youre not getting this confused with the 'boy racers' Renault 5 GTT are you? A lot of people do. This car will take you outside and kick your nuts in!!!! :D

Ok i t5ake it back, the 5(2) was 185Bhp whereas the Clio is 255Bhp but the 5 was quite a bit lighter so Power to weight ratios must have a dramatic effect on the performance comparison. But i still think the 5 is a helluva lot better looking (personal opinion) and the build quality of Clios IS rubbish, dire. (This is NOT just my opinion, they are well known for being built out of lego and cellotape, I have to drive one for work. It's crap). :)

the clio often gets compared to the 911 for sheer driving fun

are you sure it makes the best noise in the world Nick? ... *cough* Alfa GTA :D

hey bobby... i wonder if henry has got one..

To be fair to the 147 GTA I have never driven one, but most things with six pot lumps sound good! And I know that Afla lump is know for its sound track!

The noise was just unreal, it was very strange to look behind and not see any rear seats but I would rarther have a mid mounted 3.0 V6 there any day.

Now I have drive a few cars but I would go as far to say it was the most exciting car I have ever driven.

To get an idea of noise download videos 3 and 4 from the Clio V6 page on www.renaultsport.co.uk it will put a huge grin on your face!

Driven it, can't see the point in it.

There are a number of better cars for the money.

Who in their right minds pays 25k for a dodgy built French shopping trolley when you could have, for example:-

Lotus Elise

BMW Z4

Nissan 350z

Honda S2000

I could go on and on.

Just my opinion of course.

When a car like the V6 Clio 255 is only bettered by a 911 GT3 & a Lamborghini Gallardo in a recent group test in Evo maginzine it cant be crap these guys cover thousands of miles in these cars.

I have work for Honda & Mercedes Benz and have driven some tastsy machinery i.e AMG cars and a lastest S2000GT which may I also add has never been one of my favoirte cars, and I turly think the V6 is far better. I am not saying I would rather own one than a CL63 Bi-Turbo AMG even though it is much more involving to drive.

Go and read a road test on any MK2 Clio V6 and I doubt you will find any of the words used in your last post!

Mk1 has only 230BHP and could be out done by a 172 CUP if driven properly.

Mk2 has 255 BHP longer wheelbase, revamped suspension, and specially manufactured rear tyres by Michelin.

Who threw him a biscuit?

i know which i have if anyone else pick the crappy clio over 911 or lambo i suggest they go see a doctor ASAP

the performce on these V6 Clio 255 is not all that a decend condition mr2 turbo will beat it

the mkll mr2turbo is still the best mid engine rear wheel drive car for under 30k and we now in year 2004 the mr2 must be well ahead of is time when they were made

Evo maginzine are marketing for teenagers anything with over size wings they say is good :D

i wonder what position you are in when you work for Mercedes-Benz and what wages you was getting?

i can imaging you under 25 years old working for mecerdes-benz and they let you take CL63,SL55AMG or CLK AMG for a spin....

who knows? maybe they let you take the SLR for a spin tomorrow :)

you also driven S2000GT wow! maybe you want to tell us what position you work for honda is?

who knows they might let you take a nsx home for a weekend since is you nick

you talk big for someone who is not even close to the age 25 and to you is not the money of the car that matters "is the involving to drive"

why is a rich young geezer like youself doing driving a CTS

you should be living in mayfair and drive 911 turbos

ps: dont think i reply anymore i have made my opinion dont really want to get into a argurment and i know if i reply again that where it will be heading so i wont

see you :)

I am not going to get wound up by your last post, as it is visible to all that you have issues what they are I really could not care less.

You seem to think you have a very good knowledge of people you have never met, like what salary they are on and all the rest of it, which leads me to believe you are even more of a prat than I first envisaged.

Not that it is any of your business but I don’t occupy any position within Daimler Chrysler or Honda anymore as myself and a partner now run our own little concern in the City.

In regards to taking a SL55 AMG for a spin as you put it, I can do much better than that. I was at the official German launch for this car, were we were in sighted to the design and production information at Mercedes-Benz De Stuttgart before been taken round their in house proving grounds in a derestricted model. But I have driven most of the AMG range here on the UK roads, I also aspire to own one eventually.

See You,

I hope not

This is not a site for talking about about French ******* first and for-most!!

Secondly I agree with T128. This belongs on General Discussions!

But if you're gunna talk about them then the Peugeot 205 T16 that Ari Vatanen drove in 84-85 in the rally  , is by far the best piece of French ******* to grace our TV's. The Clio is for girls (Nicole, Papa) and the R5 is for blokes that where baseball caps while driving. Just my opinion.

I'd rather have my Rolla though, end of story!!!

Well perhaps if you ask nicely a moderator will move it for you..

Nick posted with the intention of CTS drivers in mind I imagine, and as the CTS is a hot hatch... then it has relevance here in my eyes!

T128... are you angry that Nick is leaving the CTS fraternity or something? .....just you're very bitter towards him for no reason in particular!

Finally, well done on your last post Nick - about time.
