2004 Avensis Dashboard Beeps While Engine Off

Hi there

My new (well new to me) 2004 Avensis is beeping at me (3 beeps then a gap then 3 beeps, rather like a old digital watch alarm.) This started directly after the Battery was disconnected and re-connected. There seem to be no warning lights going once I start the car, the car starts OK and the beeps stop as soon as it is running, then recommence as soon as I turn the key off. They keep occuring even after I vacate the car and lock it.

The radio seems to be going OK and there appear to be no other alarm issues.

Any ideas?

Aj

Update on the beeping saga...we spoke to an auto sparky and were advised to take the car for a longish drive (something to do with re-setting the ECU?). We did so (45 minutes, mostly open road) and were disappointed when we stopped in town on our way home to hear beep, beep, beep again. However, when we re-started the car (after about 10 minutes) and drove the 2.5km home, the beeping did not occur when we stopped at home and has not happened again since. Hopefully, if you are reading this topic because of a similar problem, this will work for you too.
