Some Fixes For My Yaris

Hi guys.

So I bought the 2004 Yaris Verso.

However, I was a little bit unfortunate on the way up. My theory is that some idiot hit me while I was parked and away from the car.

The rear "corner" of the car is a little bit loose, the part broke off around the "attached" place. Had a friend look at it and he thought it wasn't anything big, he suggested some super glue and fat (don't know why he said fat, do you know?).

I'm not sure about the other one (the one inside). It might have come loose due to very bad roads in Norway or due to the load I had (bought 50kg chicken on my way home). It wasn't like this when I bought it yesterday, drove for 700km since then. Here is the route if you are interested.

Any tips for how I can fix both? I was thinking off visiting a local mechanic store (one that has a good reputation for not ripping off their customers) and ask if they could check it out and if they can fix it. But... if I can do it myself then heck I'll do it.

There is a weird sound in the back when I drive, I think it might be the loose parts making the noise.

Here is an album of the damages. Sorry for the bad quality, the Samsung S4 has litteraly the worst camera ever.

Another thing is one I noticed today. There is a very low "white noise sound" when I drive. I think the radio is the villain, but haven't figured out how I turn it off yet (only sound :P).

Related to the other topic:

I took the NAF (Norways Automobile Association) buyers test and it came out with only a few errors. The brakes in the front, the parking brake and the brake fluid needed fixing. Asked the seller to fix it before buying and he said it was Ok.

It's very comfortable to drive. Since I'm a bit short, I was able to get the seat in a perfect position (it can't go further back because of wall). I'm not used to the gas pedal yet. Can speed up to a 60 km/t zone and suddenly I'm at 80.

Did not use much fuel while driving. Spent 2/3 of a full tank for the whole trip (about 26-27 liters diesel I think).

Very happy with this car and I don't regret that I bought it at all. Such a relief to finally be able to get around without worrying about if the bus has gone or not. :)

Think most people would describe one of these as an Emu.

Looks like the damage to the bumper may have broken a couple of the retaining clips

Yeah, I think so too. It might also be due to bad roads in Norway. I'm pretty sure I didn't hit anything, but the bumps in the road with high speed might not be so good.

Is this replacable or easily fixed? I tried looking for a place to attach the loose part inside, but I couldn't find any.

I think I will go to a mechanic and check it out, see what he says.

Yeah, the D4D is a fantastic engine; So powerful for such a light car! :D

The power delivery takes a bit of getting used to if you're used to a gutless petrol engine; First time I drove mine I scared the crap out of myself because I was revving it like a petrol while engaging the short-travel clutch and it shot off like a whippet

(I now have the opposite problem when driving lessor cars  They just stall so easily! :P )

The economy is pretty good; Even loaded you can easily get 600 miles of distance driving on a single tank, even driving like a loon. If you hypermile or are just very consistent (And patient!), you can get into the mid-high 700's! (Although from what I hear about Norwegian mountain roads that could be tricky!)

Not sure about the rear bumper; Yariususses seem pretty resistant to vibration-loosening (Mine certainly is!), but it does seem a clip or bolt has fallen out? Might have been bumped out by a third party as you suggest or maybe previous owner had done some repairs or somesuch there?

The inside one is unusual; Maybe something heavy was hooked on and it popped the panel out...?
Most of those sorts of panels are pop-in/pop-out tho' so should be relatively easy to sort out.
