Can someone plese help describe to me how to remove my carb from my 86 corolla to clean it out, since I am having some idle problems ( will not idle, and wants to die), bt for some reason the car runs great when I'm on the highway and afte I have sprayed carb cleaner into the jets. (this suggests to me that it's the carb that's not supplying enough gas into the intake, and making the car wanna die).. I have checked out everyhting else, but cannot find any other problems with the car.

Please help me with indicating what (if any) additional parts I should get when I am in there doing this job, as well as how i should go about doing this job.

thanks again!

you'll need:

A clean rag.

You car.

1) take the airfilter off the car

2) start her up and let it get warm ( 7 mins )

3) locate the throttle on the intake

4) learn to rev the engine from the throttle in the engine bay

5) take te car up to about 4000rpm

6) stuff the clean rag entirley over the intake where the filter used to be

7) keep the throttle open as you do this, the car will start to choke itself to death

8) before its conks out remove the rag, keeping the throttle in the same postion all the time, the engine will cough splutter and spit out all the crap from inside the carb via the exhaust...look forblack **** going everywhere !

9) release the throttle gently to bring revs back down

10) gently open the throttle up again to 4000 and release.

11) stand back and enjoy a clean carb and a car that ticks over properly.
