Alarm Problem

The alarm on my 2003 Rav 4 keeps going off and I'm a bit stuck on what to do.

It's been going off for the past few weeks. Not every day but on the days it does go off it will happen two or three times, and keep going off until we get the key to reset it. We changed the Battery in the main key this weekend, and thought it had worked but it's just gone off again. The car is sat on our drive, on a quiet road with not much traffic, although they are doing digging work at a house further down the street so not sure if the vibrations could be causing it.

I'm due to go on holiday next week leaving this car at home but worried that the alarm is going to keep going off and drive the neighbours all barmy.

Does anyone have any advice or tips about what we can check or how to disable the alarm temporarily? We would take it into a garage but our normal garage won't touch anything to do with the alarms and the Toyota garages have said they can't fit it in before we go on holiday.

Bizarrely the alarm on my husband's car also went off on the weekend at 4am! Not sure if this is coincidence or connected in a weird way?

Thanks for any advice!

No livestock hiding in the car is there e.g. small rodents or insects in the system.

Apologies if this is an obvious question , but have you tried disabling the interior sensor by pressing the lock button 3 times?

I don't think we have livestock in the car, not seen any evidence of anything but will take a proper look tomorrow.

Pmb - not an obvious question at all as I haven't done. Helpfully I don't have a user manual with the car so have no idea how to do anything on it. Will try disabling the interiorsensors tomorrow.

Raistlin the thought did cross my mind but we only moved in in December and haven't managed to annoy anyone yet I don't think. Also don't see how it could be someone else doing it as you never see anyone about when you look out the window. My alarm only seems to go off in the day though strangely, never at night (thankfully).

Have you checked the bonnet is properly closed or other doors for that matter?

Also if during daytime could this be temperature related?

Not sure about temperature, haven't noticed whether it goes off on warm days and not cooler days.

No earthquakes that I've noticed ;)

I'm taking it over to my stepdads tonight to check the sensors, the boot is sticky so it may be to do with that.

Thanks for the replies, it's at least given me some things to check for.
