Does The Latest Yaris Have An Alarm?

There's a sticker in the window 'Protected by Toyota Vehicle Security' or similar but I can't see or activate any sort of alarm system?

It does not have an alarm.

It has an immobilizer which stops the car being started unless the correct (ie one of the ones supplied with the car) key is used (and stops it being started if someone tries to "hot-wire" the ignition).

Toyota do an alarm themselves which is designed to link in to the vehicles existing electronics and can be fitted after purchase - ask a Toyota Dealer.

It won't do much extra to stop the car being stolen but will possibly deter break ins.

The immobiliser systems fitted to UK market vehicles are so effective now that they have largely negated the standard fit alarm systems. Hence why, where vehicles are stolen it is usually because the thieves have broken into houses, and got the vehicle keys to steal the vehicle.

Usually there is an led somewhere on the dashboard/centre console to signify the immobiliser is armed - on my Auris it is on the centre console.

Not any more according to this! It had to happen eventually. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/thousands-cars-stolen-using-hi-tech-gadgets-011316589.html?vp=1#089bxZd

I asked my local dealer but they said they couldn't fit me one and recommended me a place further down the road.
