P1346 Timing Issues?

Hi guys

I have an engine management light appear on my 2004 1.3 Toyota Yaris - I've had a full diagnostic done at my local garage and the AA who tell me that it's error P1346 - the garage now tell me this is a timing issue and they will need to replace the 1. the timing chain (with a timing chain kit) 2. the actuator 3. the VVTi pulley.

I know -nothing- really about car mechanics... I was wondering if this is to be expected considering the car has now covered 125,000 miles? The garage are quoting me £800 for parts and labour including VAT as it's an engine strip-down. My question is, what is the likelihood that this chain will snap and cause catastrophic damage in the next few months? I.e. is this an URGENT repair... I can't really hear any noises at all, it starts without hesitation each time and there isn't any power loss...

Unfortunately it's the timing chain, more than likely stretched. I had to have the timing chain and VVTi pulley replaced which came to £800... Shop around for prices.

Did you hear noise from engine? Did the engine managment light continuously light? Because I don't hear any noise from engine, and the car is running fine. The engine managment light appear and disappear.

Maybe only the sensor is wrong.
