Hi, here's my juncture. I have a 2005 2.2 D4D avensis with 278000 miles on the original clutch! however it has just started signs of slippage. I obviously need to change it out soon but want to know my options, I.E going for a SMF over a dualmass flywheel or even keep the original flywheel and just change the clutch kit.

Cheers Wayne.

Hello Wayne,

at that mileage I would change the complete clutch and DMF after all it's served you well for 280,000 miles. An SMF is an alternative but it can put extra stress on a gearbox and as yours is high mileage then you may get problem later, just get a decent replacement either from Toyota or something like a LUK.

Regards,

Pete.

wow that's good going! I would stick with dmf, On the genuine clutches it has LuK stamped on it. I hope you can see in the picture I have attached.

any advice on to keep a clutch going that long? is the mileage motorway runs?

I've got the same car but at 122 k and got the flywheel and clutch done at the same time but for a solid state. It's now much louder then before and I don't know if it's just the flywheel or something else. Can anyone help.

I think Wayne youre better off with a DMF.

Chirs
