Don't think there is a true fuel tank range.

The fuel gauge and multi information display readings have been the subject of some discussion previously, and applies across the Auris, Aygo, IQ, and Yaris ranges.

The fuel gauge operates in a non-linear way. Readings on the fuel gauge and multi information display can be affected if fuel top ups of less than 15 litres are used, and readings can throw up anomalies.

It is thought the displayed range can be affected by driving style and environment.

For example living in Birmingham my fuel range is frequently around the 320-330 miles mark, due to the heavy, often stop/start type traffic I encounter. My daily commute used to be 6.5 miles each way, and each 6.5 mile journey could take anything between 30 minutes and one hour to complete - which affected both economy and fuel range.

A good illustration of real world readings and range achieved for one Auris owner can be found here: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/157794-auris-133-fuel-bar-fuel-consumption-and-all-that-stuff/

Bear in mind though that may not be typical.

I presume carpages have just taken the fuel consumption from the brochure (48mpg), multiplied that by the tank size (12 gallons), to give 576, and rounded it down to 575. Don't think they would do anything more scientific than that.

Wrong, roughly £55.00 will the tank up with 320 ish miles. It will give you around 270Miles cruising at 65 in sixth gear. We did this the other day

£55 equates to approx 42 litres (9.24 imperial gallons) - whereas the Auris fuel tank takes 55 litres (12.09 imperial gallons).

If you're saying you did 270 miles on 9.24 imperial gallons, that's a pretty woeful 29.22 miles per gallon.

buklau111 may I suggest that you read your posts then re-read them again before hitting the post button.

That way you won't make so many howling errors, albeit amusing for us it's not fair on you... ;)

My bad, on a website it showed £55.00 full tank, which we filled up. But the fuel prices were different since it was based on a different country and based on prices 3 years ago (its on a website). We filled up £55.00 on 1 mile left on the cruise range and it did fill up tank and gave us 320 miles but obviously we cannot see if we have a full tank because of the Auris having the cars not with the lines like other cars to be much more presise. But we did get 270+ miles since we went from London ---->Bournmouth-----> Portsmouth-----> and well into France, good consumption.

Just be aware that the fuel gauge on the Auris and some other Toyotas is non-linear - so the first bars will take a long time to extinguish, and as the fuel empties, the other bars go out quicker.

Yeah frosty noticed that from when filled to brim.it took time to go out.then they started going out quicker.i think it was around 50+ miles before one went off.(going to fill up and test that out miles per bar.).but so far im getting more than the 1.6crdi hyundai i30 i had!!

Nice, we did 80% motorway and then the rest in town, we had 320 something on the cruise range.
