Auris Alarm Keeps Going Off

I've had my 08 2litre auris 5 months now and apart from a one off random alarm about 2 months ago I've never had an issue. Since Sunday morning (really early!) it went off about 6 times over 3 or 4 hours.

Nothing when away and parked up later (that I'm aware of anyway) when I came home it went off twice within about 5 minutes. I had a bike in the car so the rear seats where down and even though I'm sure it wasn't moving to trigger it I removed it and put the rear seats up etc. I thought this had sorted it as it kept quiet but after heading out and coming home again it's went off a couple of times in the last 2 hours. The first time after which I seemed to successfully deactivate the intrusion sensor (even though there's nothing in the car to set it off anyway).

A bit of googling suggests generic not auris specific issues - maybe water playing havoc with switches or faulty sensor. Has anyone had an issue with this on an auris before?

The car is not being affected by rain or wind or anything else. It's in the same position with the same contents since it was bought. To ensure an interrupted nights sleep for me and the neighbours I was considering removing the fuse but can't find which one the alarm is on in the book and I'm scared I'll wreck something if I pull out the wrong one! Any handy way to just isolate the Battery? Even a way to do it removing the connectors to the Battery?

I had a similar problem with mine for a while, but it would happen it multiple places, at one point i thought it was the bonnet sensor for the alarm, so i disconnected it and set the alarm, didnt have any problem for a few days so i reconnected it, and havent had a problem since. Another thing i have found is that the alarm is incredibly sensitive, next doors cats used to set it off when they jumped on the car, that has stopped, i think they learnt not to jump on it. I have also had the wind set it off on my street, which i have never had happen before. I would suggest looking at the bonnet sensor switch and disconnect it for a while, it could be loose.

After the alarm is triggered if you get into the car and watch the flashing security light it will flash out a sequence eg. 1 flash , 2 flash, 3 flash etc look in your owners manual and it will tell you what each means, this will pin point which sensor it triggering the alarm.

In the short term lock the car manually with the key in the door this will bypass the alarm.

Thanks Aidan good advice - where exactly is the bonnet sensor switch? Stupid question probably lol. Just in case I pull out a wrong cable!

Lee that's more great advice though no doubt the car will now only go off at 3 in the morning when you're in a panic to put it off from the house and don't want to spend time going out to check the sequence! But that'll be a big help in working out what the issue is I'm sure.

I'll go and do the manual lock didn't realise it bypassed it.

Thanks guys - here's to a quiet uninterrupted nights sleep!

I locked it manually on Sunday night no problems. Just locked it remotely on Monday and no issues...to date. Funny neither time my phone was in the car so it wasn't a trigger for mine.

Mines gone off a fair few times randomly too.

yes, cats jumping onto the car also set it off as well!

It seems awfully sensitive!

Mine went off randomly a couple of times last week, about half an hour apart until I unlocked the car and left it unlocked overnight.

Rightly or wrongly I put it down to me having left it on the drive for a little over a week, and the Battery running low, it's the longest it has ever been sat without being used.

Been fine since and it is the only occurrence in over a year of owning it.

I had this problem.

Toyota replaced the sound sensor on the interior light cluster in the front of the car.

Problem sorted.
