Replacement Wing Mirror (Integral Indicator)

Hi.

I have just suffered the inevitable white van driver on mobile phone incident which has resulted in a broken drivers side wing mirror.

The wing mirror is still intact i.e. still attached but has suffered damage to the cover and plastic body.

As is usually the case I've been told that the whole unit would need replacing.

The problem is that the wing mirror is of the type that has an integral indicator which I have been told by the dealer would cost in excess of £300 to replace.

There seem to be plenty of 'non indicator' versions of the mirror available via the usual sources but none of the 'indicator' versions.

My question is. Apart from the cover is there a major difference between the construction of indicator version and none indicator version (i.e mounting points for the indicator unit etc.) ?

I was wondering if it would be possible to buy a 'normal' mirror and fit the indicator and cover to it.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

You can purchase the wing cover for £30-£50 on eBay I have seen with the indicator. The mirror can be brought for £11 of eBay too but the actual indicator and electrics its self is virtually impossible to buy other than from Toyota. I know this since on of our indicators got water inside it (now absorbed into the circuit) and its not working at all... And I tried to get a new one and the price of a new one was not good :/

Thank's for the help so far.

I forgot to mention. It's a 2010 model.

I can find the cover and I can find the mirror.

It's the main body of the unit that my question is about. The indicator, motor, electrics etc are OK.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-AURIS-2006-2012-WING-MIRROR-GLASS-RIGHT-HAND-SIDE-/400582085740?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AToyota|Model%3AAuris&hash=item5d448d8c6c

Theres the mirror and then from Halfords buy the license plate double sided tape and stick it on. Before you stick it make sure the glass is free of any finger marks and dust.

I cannot find your colour, best thing to do is go to the scrap yard and look for one which will be extremely difficult to find since its a new car but if you want your car colour is dark grey, adding white mirrors on both side wouldent look too bad. The nearest colour i could find was this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/toyota-auris-2009-2010-light-blue-mica-right-hand-mirror-cover-casing-23605-r-/321391649133?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AToyota|Model%3AAuris&hash=item4ad46f616d

If you want both to be white, which wouldent look too bad its here

The mirror assembly is sold in three parts by Toyota, all parts are RHS / RHD

1. Mirror and housing - 87901-02320

2. Mirror casing - 87915-02918 ( comes primed requires painting )

3. Indicator lamp - 81730-02210

The early non indicator mirror casing is not the same as the later type in both shape and wiring harness.

Thanks for all the replies.

It's sounding like my only options are :-

1) Buy the whole assembly new (expensive).

2) Wait for one to appear on eBay etc. (less expensive but they seem to be pretty rare).

There was a whole assembly come up on eBay the other day but unfortunately for a 2013 model :(

P.S.

@Frosty. Yes Dacuma grey 1G3. Why. Do you have one ?

We had water ingress into a mittor on our 2010 auris and as there was no visable damaage ther changed the indicator lens and electrics under the 5 year warranty .
