'99 2.0 Td Cover On The Front Bumper ?

Hi, I have a LHD from France.

I discovered on my 1999 2.0-TD front bumper that, next to the foglight, on the right side (driver) there is no cover, while on the other side, passenger, next to the foglight there is a cover.

WIthout this cover, I can see a big grey radiator, maybe the intercooler or an oil radiator, that, in my opinion is rather exposed.

My question is :

Is this a normal design to allow better air flow to cool this radiator, or are there supposed to be 2 covers, one on each side ?

On the internet I saw both ways on the pictures...maybe it depends of the country/engine ?

Thanks :)

Hi Matt,

Your car is missing the cover. Yes there is supposed to be a cover on both sides, regardless of the engine and specification.

Thanks Conrad.
I'll have a look but even in French I'm struggling to give this cover a name :)

Thanks

i think it might be called front bumper finisher grill. just make sure you get the correct side. also google it for images of avensis 1999 front bumper grill.

Hi Konrad, Waqar,

I've asked my Toyota mechanic about this grille, and he told me that it was normal that on the driver's side, next to the foglight, there is indeed a hole, as the radiator I talked about is the intercooler.

Meanwhile, 2 TD's seen on the road were without covers as well...
