Bought 2003 Toyota With Corroded Brakes!

I just bought a 2003 Rav4 from a reputable dealer. 85,000 miles, drives beautiful, great bodywork condition. Paid £2,800 for it even though it had no service history. Insisted that dealer get a new mot on it for me and it came back with 4 advisories - all 4 brake pads and pipes slightly corroded. Dealer assured me this isn't an expensive job and car is still worth a lot more. I'm not so sure!

Any idea on the cost of replacing these? Would you have paid that price considering the advisories? I'm just hoping I'm not going to end up with a huge bill when it comes to next years mot!

You don't say which model Rav4 but if it's a nice one - the price is OK. It's not unusual to have light rust on brake discs - if it was serious, the car would have failed the test - some of the rust may well polish off with use. Similarly surface rust on brake pipes isn't unusual and further deterioration can be prevented by spraying with Waxoyl, Dinitrol or similar. New pads and discs all round would be under £200 fitted using good quality parts.
