Most parts genuine or otherwise have a 12 month guarantee. You would need to prove it was faulty with a fault code or similar. Just because the check light has come on, does not mean the sensor is faulty, it could be the catalytic converter for instance

If under 12 months I would think that you would have a very good case to go in and ask for a replacement. Careful though - I had one go after 12 months and the dealer said they were "replacing" it under warranty - but in fact they literally re-placed it: put it back in! Dodgy (this was a few years back) - they misled me so I made sure they changed it when it went wrong a second time.

Did you check using an ODB checker? My first instinct when a warning light comes up (and the car is running fine) is to think "oxygen sensor" - which is then confirmed to some extent by the OBD checker code (£13 off ebay). I usually delete the code and drive on. If the engine light comes on again and it is an o2 code, I delete it again.

If it keeps coming on I check the ohmic resistance on the plug/s in question across the terminals with a multimeter. I have the details somewhere on what the resistance should be. If the sensor is kaput I put a new one in (Denso).

Of course, the temporary or permanent failure of a sensor could mean a problem elsewhere (upstream) rather than with the sensor.

Hi Kingo,

I checked with ODB reader before I made my original post hence the fault code number in the title. Anyways, the code is for heater circuit failure which only keeps the whole thing in open loop for longer than ideal but once the car is warmed up, it returns to normal operation. Its just annoying having a light on. I replaced the sensor before by myself and I can do it again. As much as i love my car, sometimes i hate this o2 sensor business. oh well Never Mind.

Waqar
